Recent Photo Series ...

Journal Entry: Thu Jul 30, 2009, 1:57 PM
Yanasis

This one was taken in a park as we walked from Yana's place to there. When we were walking on the road inside the park and I saw the arrow on the ground...this happened to be capture. I asked the sisters to lie in such a way to present falling, and the photo is the 2nd try, and I thought of the idea of making them look like falling after taking the 1st shot of them lying down.

This was taken before we reached the park, somewhere just near the flat. As my original intention was shoot something simple, where the sisters have simple and similar poses which can be quite stiff. Nevertheless it was on purpose, as I thought it would somehow produce artistic result.

Costrange Incidence

We (Who?) saw these two interesting girls while wondering in Orchard Road, Singapore. After we saw them the first time, we saw them again on their way back from the opposite direction of where they went just now. We asked them if they would like to take some photos, as I suddenly thought of continuing the theme and style of Yanasis.

I took a short while looking around and think for a nice spot to shoot them, and they told me not to rush. I am pleased with the result on the bottom left, the closer shot with 85mm, a great lens indeed.

ToiVision

The original title was ToiVision, it was derived from the location being in a toilet and a TV is involved. Somehow the title ended to be W.U.P, as I had forgotten the original title completely at the time when I was submitting the deviations. Now, I have re-named the series back to ToiVision. The props used are medical bandages and a small old fashioned TV set, which I bought for SGD$30, and I dismantled it. When I opened the TV up I was amazed by the interior like the circuit boards and the tube and that was the reason why I took the shot in the 2nd part of the series, I just felt I have to shoot it, and idea of placing a photo within the TV frame came very naturally.

I did a lot of planning, mainly visualizing the concepts, especially on how to connect the model clones together at once with the bandage. I sat on the sofa in the Mess in my army camp, and I got the solution. I wish the series could have been more complete as I had planned to make a few more shots, but failed due to time constrains, as Emily (the model) had to go off for a meeting. She was kind and helpful enough to work with me to make this happen free of charge, as she said she really like the idea.

The Aftermath

My 2nd shoot with Emily. She was sourcing for photographers to shoot a nature theme, and agreed to photograph her in Punggol, Singapore. Punngol is like a huge less developed natural area, where we could find some interesting spots to shoot provided that we know the way. Sunlight was often very direct and cooking us away most of the time. However this series was shot under the shade, and the scattered light spots looked very attractive to my eyes. I really like the way the light falls on her face through the leaf gaps. More shots will be uploaded and we were all pleased with the photos even though we were tanned.

Rated GP

It has been two years since Grace and me took some photos at her playground, it is very shocking for her to realise that it has been 2 years +!! The these photos were the first to be taken as I set up my tripod with Horizon Perfekt mounted on it. The panoramic view of the camera allow for a non-distorted capture within a very small space. Grace was a genius by putting her legs inside her big shirt. She bought the shirt because when we were talking shooting something again, I mentioned that she could wear a really big t-shirt. She loves the photos!

Upadtes

More photos coming soon featuring Emily and Grace, from the same photo shoots I did with them. In fact I did the photo shoot with Grace just the day before Emily and I went to Punggol.

I feel fortunate enough to be able to shoot so much so far for the fact that I am currently in the army wasting life away. Nevertheless, a lot of important things to me will not exist without National Service.

Noise Singapore

Journal Entry: Wed Mar 4, 2009, 5:58 PM
Hmmm...

Just got two days off after a living firing of SAR21.

Recently I joined the Noise Singapore competition, some of my works are featured in the Noise Singapore Festival Launch at Far East Plaza on the 5th March 6pm, which is today lol. I guess I have a chance to go down and check it out, as they said the featured works will be presented in creative ways...like printed on t-shirts!? haha...wouldn't it be cool to see my photo on a t-shirt which I inevitably gave permission to the organizer to use as agreement to the rules of the event.

They put up a voting page and I just saw two of my photos in the last row, hehe, if you are free and reading my journal, and kind enough, please help vote for me hehe hehe :P

The Day The Earth Still not Understood...

Journal Entry: Sun Dec 14, 2008, 12:15 PM
Hmmm...

I went to watch The Day The Earth Stood Still on the 14th Dec, another day which the planet stood still...

Hmm..I watched part of the original movie made in the 1950s, I felt it was nice.

In the new remake, 'The One' has come again to save us, and almost got 'us' killed.

Amazing, brilliant, totally awesome action and SFX. However, the story seems to be lack of logic and structurally incomplete, especially if you have seen the original film.

I am still very bothered by the part where the female doc said if the alien wants to speak to our leader then she will take him to one, and then there came the professor. I felt it was too abrupt, and what does the professor have to be or to be like a leader??? Nothing was explained in the movie, not like the original...the professor is obviously not a politician.

In the original, the alien was rejected by the US officials regarding the request to speak to all the world leader at the same time, instead he looked for someone who is intelligent, and responsible enough to speak to, and he found the professor, and the process is much more logical and understood.

Hmmm...kinda disappointed after watching...felt like...'HUH?' after the ending...

Max Payne effect...

Journal Entry: Thu Nov 13, 2008, 12:34 PM
...

I remember I watched it at The Grand Cathay awesome digital cinema.

Before I watched it when it was just released, I heard some negative reviews, but I didn't give any shit or use any toilet paper.

I believed that I should go see it myself, and see if it is good or bad or so so.

Max Payne is very brilliant...great film...dark...powerful...the lighting in the film has made a very strong impression to me, while watching I was very intrigued by the cinematography.

Somehow the rating of film is rather low...so my conclusion is don't take reviews too seriously, you should always go see the film for yourself to find out, and of course enjoy it.

The same thing happened to PS: I Love You, a low rating film, but so touching, it is a great film with a very touching story, and good acting to me.

I'm eagerly waiting for the Blu-Ray rip of The Dark Knight to be released...

I'm currently planning on an anti-piracy TVC, about downloading...

My life is full of ironies...

RED ALERT 3

Journal Entry: Sat Nov 1, 2008, 6:26 PM
My eyes are hurt by the overexposure from the pure awesomeness of the game...and it has damnicsound-track...

Currently playing the New Old Soviet Union campaign, and loving the Twinblade, but I kinda feel that Apocalypse Tank is weaker now...perhaps due the fact that it doesn't fire AA missiles, and the canon fire isn't as explosive looking as in the previous game...haha.

I didn't know that building the grinder looking structure can open up extra production line...:faint:...and it has repair drones...:faint:...when its built to grind things...

Love the song "Soviet March" from the Main Menu, and HELL MARCH.

The Japanese soldiers throw "devious-tArt" at the opponents ... something that looks like the dA logo...

I'm kidding by making a woman pregnant, and giving birth to kids, so it is as causal and irresponsible as a joke, for I am kidding.

Metallic Death Magnet

Journal Entry: Tue Sep 30, 2008, 3:23 PM
Hmmm...

During the days when bits and bits of the new album from Metallica is surfacing to the world...I wasn't very confident and expecting something as good as Death Magnetic.

The new album definitely won't set off Holy Anger in the fans' heart, and I think Metallic has done it this time, and they managed to create this new magnetic force that will attract a lot of ... whatever they want ...

Finally Metallica sounds more metallic, they sounded like stones the last time literally be it stone or rock, or Stone Rock!? HAHA!!

Personally, I don't find the new songs awesome, but they are catchy, like really magnetic. However is it really good and auspicious to buy a 'coffin' for yourself, I think u know what I mean by that, hahaha!!!

:horns:

At least there is this Metal band who is one of the biggest bands in the world! At least they get to play on MTV or play with MegaTitsVirgina.

:horns:

However, I still don't really like Lars' tin can drum, the sound of it, or the way they recorded it.

HAHA, he is like the leading of the band, and he uses metallic tin cans as his weapon of massive beating.

I have an idea of substituting the coffin or the grave in the album cover with a similar looking chocolate and replace the magnetic tracks with ants!!!

I'm just too lazy to make that...

Babylon A.(N) D. Bangkok Dangerous

Journal Entry: Thu Sep 18, 2008, 5:37 PM
:(...sigh

I was very looking forward to it, because the poster was so Sci-Fi, and made me think of Blade Runner...but...wtf...haha...the movie was like, not exactly crap, but somehow just no where near as good as its sfx...:p

The story made me anticipate so much...to get the answers to the questions that kept popping up, but slowly and eventually when the movie ends, I realised that I have waited for nothing but to hear the noise from other audiences...

Maybe we should have never cared about anything about Babylon, it was just a dead Baby born A.D....

=p

---

BANGCOCK IS DANGEROUS!

IS REALLY GOOD!

HAHA

There weren't any banging actions, but lots of ... bangs from all sorts of guns.

I really enjoyed the movie, and the cinematography was really impressive. Till now I could still remember vividly how the scene when the hitman and his new student finally chased the target on the boat, the slow motions that is also blended in by the slow motion of the boat with the motor turned off and just floating slowing forward...oh my...

Both of these two movies would seem very cliche from the outside but I just wanted to check them out, because when I saw the reviews for Bangkok Dangerous, they were really bad, but I also heard from my friend saying that it is a good one that is better than the other shit showing now, haha.

So, the point is that I think movie reviews online can't be taken too seriously unless you want to take their personal opinion as your own.

SAINT SEIYA!!!

Journal Entry: Sun Aug 10, 2008, 1:43 PM
:headbang:

Perhaps the first Metal song I ever heard when I was a small kid - "Pegasus Fantasy", man...

I know you guys probably don't know about this...I am a BIG fan of Saint Seiya...

I love the anime, and I collect the toys...

:horns: Saint Seiya :horns:

:horns: Shiryu :horns:

I have no idea why, I have been wanting to take some photos of my SS toys for quite a while, very long indeed, only today I finally shot something, and I was happy, and I am gonna work hard on them.

:evillaugh:

So, that's it...Saint Seiya madness...

I just watched the closing episodes of the Elysion chapters...hmm...shitty flash slide shows, but still it's Saint Seiya anyway. People like me, the fans of SS, waited decades...like 10-20 years for many people to watch it finish.

HAHAH...MY GOD...

NO ARMY FOR NOW!!! HOORAY!! GONNA CATCH THE OLYMPIC OPENING CEREMONY AT HOMEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! NO NATIONAL DAY PARADE SHIT WORK ON THE 9TH!! HOOOOOOOORAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY!!

:faint:

I could not sleep at 4am in the morning haha, and I suddenly realised that today is the day of the Opening of the Beijing Olympic Games 2008 HAHAH!!!

So I went to the net and checked up on the timing of the ceremony, and found out that it would be at 2000 hours (army standard...), 8PM in other words, haha so it will be 8.8.08. 8pm LOL, Chinese are good with numbers indeed, such great plan. (a little shameless...=p)

Somehow I searched 'Olympics' in dA, and came across this poster : lishaa.deviantart.com/art/Olym… , which is very cool indeed!

However, the extensive discussion in the fearsome comments make me want to waste some time and write some shit...:blahblah:

:blahblah::blahblah::blahblah:

LOL...err...so...there was something with Tibet involved...and China of course, haha.

First of all, I seriously think that Olympic Games should not be so political, and people are making it so much so.

Anyway, whatever all this shit is like...the problem is actually simple, China has far too many people and too much land to manage, and to apply democracy is not a wise choice at all. It is that simple, and yet difficult for the world to understand.

Sometimes, I feel that China is like a clumsy kid at school, and others are picking on him. It may be true that this kid always makes mistakes, but he is also just so helpless, and born to be like that.

All we need is some understanding...

:blahblah::blahblah::blahblah:

I can't possibly be the one that can resolve this kind of problem...so I'm just trying to simplify the problem...lol...what the hell am I doing...

...and once again and I forgot to mention that I sprained my ankle, and so HOOOORRAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY TO ATT-C (MC) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...but I can't walk properly and go out for now...:faint:...haha...and err...CSS may make its reappearance...who knows when even I don't know what I will do...HAHA!!!

Hi guys, sorry for not responding to you all. I really don't have much free time, cuz I can only book out of camp on weekends.

Btw, I came home one day earlier than standard book out time, cuz I had fever, and the Medical Officer asked to go back and rest, and see another doctor...LOL...which means I got ATT C status...and the day before my Platoon Commander had an argument with me...but it;s a complicated story.
